29th June 2009 - Transpac 2009
 |
The next big race in our calendar
is the 2 week Transpacific 2009. Details below.
From Point Fermin, in the Los Angeles area to beautiful Honolulu,
Hawaii.
|
The race is famous for fast downwind sailing under spinnaker in the
trade winds. On our Maxi Racing Yacht you will often experience what
sailors call a 'downhill slide' - surfing down the big swells with speeds
in excess of 25 knots - nothing is more exciting !
It is during these times you also really understand what team work is
all about. When the big breezes ease off, you will experience a more
relaxing sailing experience with the other crew members on this wonderful
passage to Hawaii.
This challenging 2,225 nautical miles (4121 km) race course takes competitors
through a range of conditions from the NE Pacific, through doldrums,
enormous seas and abundant squalls to the blustery trade winds of the
Molokai Channel near the finish, where racers arrive to the warm “Aloha”
greeting promised by the King and big crowds of tourists and other crew.
